Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on women in the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that the country would begin to experience greater prosperity following the difficult phase of economic reforms.

She made the appeal on Saturday, October 31, at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-East Zonal Women Presidential Rally in Enugu, where supporters of the party gathered to highlight the administration’s achievements and campaign for a second term for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

Addressing the gathering, the First Lady said the country had endured the pains associated with the ongoing reforms and was now approaching a period of economic recovery and prosperity.

“As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity,” she said.

She urged women to remain supportive of the President, assuring them that he would continue working towards transforming the country. She also described the APC as a party that fulfils its promises.

Oluremi Tinubu highlighted the interventions of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which she said had continued to support women, young people and vulnerable groups through financial assistance, skills training and the distribution of equipment.

As part of the rally, she flagged off the distribution of empowerment items to 5,000 women in Enugu State.

The event also featured calls for support for the President from political leaders and APC stakeholders in the South-East, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Other dignitaries at the rally included the wives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Speaker, the Governor of Imo State, the APC National Women Leader and the Minister of Women Affairs.

Before the rally, the First Lady and members of the delegation visited the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, led by its chairman, Igwe Samuel Asadu.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Asadu expressed appreciation for the Tinubu administration’s efforts and pledged their support for the President. He also commended the First Lady for her interventions targeting women, young people and children through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The rally formed part of the APC’s mobilisation efforts in the South-East ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders seeking to strengthen support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
