Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, setting the stage for a new approach to the management of transport parks across the state.

Adeleke signed the bill on Monday at the Government House in Osogbo, describing it as an important step towards addressing some of the longstanding challenges in the state’s transport sector. The governor commended the Osun State House of Assembly for what he described as its proactive approach to addressing issues affecting the state, saying the new law would help create a better experience for both commuters and transport operators.

Adeleke said he had reviewed the bill as passed by the lawmakers and was convinced that it offered a way forward for the challenges surrounding the management of transport parks in Osun.

“I applaud the House Speaker and members of the House for always acting in the best interest of the state. I have gone through the bill as passed by the House and I am convinced that it is the best solution to the perennial crisis and challenges facing the Osun transportation park system,” he said.

With the bill now signed into law, Adeleke said his administration would begin implementation and ensure that relevant stakeholders were accommodated in the process.

“Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest. In line with the law, we will ensure that Osun people and other interests are accommodated for efficient service delivery across the state,” the governor added.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, said lawmakers followed the Assembly’s standing rules in processing and passing the bill.

Egbedun said the new legislation was designed to address some of the concerns surrounding the management of transport parks in the state, while also incorporating sustainable transport practices.

He expressed confidence that the law would provide clearer direction for the sector and address some of the issues that have concerned residents and other stakeholders.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.

The new law is expected to usher in changes in the way transport parks are managed across Osun as the government moves towards its implementation.
