Gtext Denies Salary Claims, Accuses Ex-Staff of Taking Company Assets

General

Gtext has denied allegations that it withheld workers’ salaries or mistreated employees, describing the claims circulating on social media as part of a campaign allegedly being driven by some former employees. In a statement issued on Monday, October 5, the company said the allegations were false and were being used to distract attention from what it described as misconduct by some of the ex-staff members involved.

According to Gtext, some of the former employees currently raising concerns about unpaid salaries had left the company without properly completing their exit processes.

The company also alleged that some of them left with its property, including funds, official laptops and mobile phones. It further claimed that one former employee was in possession of a company vehicle that had not been returned.

Gtext said the individuals had previously benefited from the company’s employee welfare programmes, including all-expense-paid trips to destinations such as Ghana, Cameroon, Dubai and Doha over the past five years.

The company said it issued a public disclaimer to prevent former employees from continuing to present themselves as representatives of Gtext after leaving the organisation.

However, Gtext alleged that its social media platforms were subsequently hacked, with the attackers removing the published disclaimers.

Management described the incident as a retaliatory action and said the removal of the disclaimers could allow the former employees to continue presenting themselves as representatives of the company.

Gtext said it had reported the matter to the police and that investigations were underway.

The company added that it was working with law enforcement authorities to recover the alleged stolen funds, vehicle and electronic devices, as well as identify those behind the reported cyberattack.

While urging the former employees involved to return any company property in their possession and complete the necessary exit procedures, Gtext also appealed to its clients, partners and the public to disregard what it described as misleading information circulating online.

The company maintained that it remained focused on its operations and service delivery, saying it would not be pressured by what it described as blackmail.
