Oyo Police Arrest Two Security Guards, Indian National Over Viral Truck Drivers’ Assault Video

General

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects following the circulation of a viral video showing the alleged assault of two truck drivers at Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.

The suspects are two security operatives attached to the company, identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, and a 46-year-old Indian national, Harjit Singh, who is associated with the company.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the command began investigating the incident after becoming aware of the video at about 8:30 a.m.

According to preliminary police findings, the confrontation started with a disagreement over where a truck that had delivered goods to the company should be parked.

The truck owner, 47-year-old Akinpelu Sarafa, reportedly said the driver had objected to the designated parking spot out of concern that it could damage the truck’s tyres. The driver was allegedly compelled to park there, after which one of the tyres burst.

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the driver requested a replacement tyre but the company declined. The driver then allegedly used the truck to block the company’s entrance, leading to a physical confrontation involving the drivers, security operatives and the Indian national.

The two victims were identified as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37. Both were taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for treatment.

The police said the investigating officer visited the victims at the hospital and obtained their statements as part of efforts to establish what happened.

The case has since been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation to determine the roles of the suspects and establish the culpability of all parties involved.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the law applies equally to individuals and organisations, adding that anyone found culpable would face the appropriate legal action.

It also urged members of the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to run its course.
