JMG Solar Projects Projected to Save Businesses Over ₦152m in Diesel Costs Annually

General

JMG Limited says its hybrid solar installations for La Chaumiere Group and its Victoria Island branch in Lagos are expected to save more than ₦152 million in diesel costs annually.

The company disclosed this following the commissioning of the two projects in the third quarter of 2026, as businesses continue to grapple with high energy costs and unreliable electricity supply.

At La Chaumiere Group, a hospitality and culinary business, JMG installed a 133.12-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar system with 160kW hybrid inverters and 163.84kWh of lithium battery storage.

The installation is projected to generate about 210.86 megawatt-hours of electricity annually and reduce diesel consumption by approximately 57,000 litres. JMG estimates that the savings will exceed ₦102 million yearly, while preventing more than 76 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

At its Victoria Island branch, JMG installed a 66kWp hybrid solar system with 80kW inverters and 81.92kWh of battery storage.

According to the company, the system is expected to generate about 94.8MWh of electricity annually, supplying approximately 80 per cent of the branch’s energy needs. It is also projected to cut diesel consumption by around 28,000 litres each year, saving an estimated ₦50 million and avoiding more than 37 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

JMG said both installations were designed following detailed assessments of each location’s energy requirements. The systems use LONGi solar panels, Deye hybrid inverters and high-voltage lithium battery storage.

Speaking on the projects, the company’s Head of Solar Division, Hussein Abbas, said businesses needed energy solutions that were both reliable and financially viable.

He said the installations showed how companies could reduce their dependence on diesel generators, lower operating expenses and improve the reliability of their power supply without compromising sustainability goals.

Abbas added that JMG was also using solar technology within its own operations to demonstrate its practical benefits to customers.

The company said its Victoria Island installation would serve as a demonstration facility where customers, consultants and project developers could see the hybrid solar system operating in a real business environment.

JMG noted that its solar solutions were designed around individual business needs, with the aim of helping organisations manage energy costs, improve power reliability and reduce their environmental impact.

The company said it would continue providing turnkey solar and hybrid power systems for businesses seeking alternatives to diesel-dependent electricity supply.
