Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Segun Williams, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing more than 1,000 supporters and political associates with him.

Williams and his supporters were formally received into the PDP on Monday, November 2, 2026, by the Ogun State chapter of the party. The State Chairman was represented at the event by the Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Ogunremi.

The reception was attended by the PDP’s 2027 governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, his running mate, Hajia Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, and the party’s Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello.

Speaking at the event, Williams pledged to mobilise support for the PDP and strengthen its grassroots presence, particularly in Abeokuta South and other parts of the state.

He also expressed his readiness to work with the party’s leadership and other stakeholders towards its ambition of defeating the APC in the 2027 general elections.

The PDP leadership welcomed Williams and the new members, assuring them of equal opportunities and an inclusive environment where they could participate fully in the affairs of the party.

The defection is a boost to the PDP’s membership in Abeokuta South as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Ogun State.

The party expressed confidence that Williams and his supporters would contribute to its mobilisation efforts and overall political activities in the state.
