Dangote Cement Donates Learning Facilities to Lagos School

General

Dangote Cement Plc has donated classroom furniture and learning materials to Ladi-Lak Nursery and Primary School in Apapa, Lagos, as part of its efforts to support education in its host communities. The donation, made through the company’s Clinker Terminal under its school support programme, included chairs, tables, school bags and other educational materials aimed at improving the learning environment for pupils and supporting teachers.

The intervention brought excitement to the school as pupils and teachers welcomed the new facilities, which the school management said would make classrooms more comfortable and improve teaching and learning.

Speaking during the handover, Group Head of Social Performance, Dangote Cement, Wakeel Olayiwola, said the initiative was part of the company’s wider social investment programme covering education, healthcare, infrastructure and economic empowerment.

Olayiwola said the company remained committed to supporting communities around its operations, adding that such investments were intended to complement government efforts in addressing development needs.

“At Dangote, we continuously seek opportunities to support education, healthcare, infrastructure development and economic empowerment. These interventions reflect our belief that thriving communities are essential to sustainable growth,” he said.

He also encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously, describing learning as an important foundation for their personal growth and future opportunities.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Ayoku Fatima Adenike, thanked Dangote Cement for responding to the school’s request for assistance.

Adenike said the donation had generated excitement among both pupils and staff and would make a difference to the facilities available for teaching and learning.

“We are sincerely grateful to Dangote Cement for this kind gesture. What once seemed like a dream has become a reality today,” she said.

She added that partnerships between schools and organisations could help address some of the challenges facing public education, while appealing for continued support for other needs of the school.

Also speaking, Head of Clinker Exports and Transport, Engineer Boluwarin Aladeniyi, described the donation as an investment in the future of the children.

Aladeniyi urged the pupils to remain disciplined, respect their teachers and parents, and stay focused on their studies.

He said the facilities were not just physical items but also a reminder to the pupils that people and organisations believed in their potential.

He later formally handed over the furniture and learning materials to the school management, expressing confidence that they would be properly maintained and used by both present and future pupils.

The donation is part of Dangote Cement’s wider community investment activities in areas where it operates, with education listed among the sectors targeted by the company’s social investment programmes.
