ADC Campaign Council Urges Youths to Reject Tinubu, Questions Petrol Price Discount

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged Nigerian youths to reject President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, accusing his administration of failing to address unemployment, poverty and the rising cost of living.

The council also questioned the effectiveness of the petrol price discount announced by the Federal Government, claiming that motorists were still paying more than ₦1,400 per litre at filling stations despite the promised reduction.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC-PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the remarks during an interaction with ADC youth leaders in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State at the weekend.

Ologbondiyan argued that young Nigerians had borne the brunt of the country’s economic difficulties, with many graduates struggling to find decent jobs and turning to small-scale trading and point-of-sale businesses to make ends meet.

He warned that supporting Tinubu for another term would be a mistake, urging youths to assess the APC government’s record before deciding who to support in the next presidential election.

According to him, the petrol price discount announced by the government has yet to provide the relief Nigerians need, as high fuel costs continue to affect transportation, businesses and other essential services.

“People are still buying petrol above ₦1,400 per litre, and Nigerians continue to struggle with the cost of transportation, business operations and other essential services,” he said.

He added that government announcements would mean little to citizens unless they resulted in noticeable improvements in their daily lives.

The ADC-PCC spokesman accused the Tinubu administration of relying on public announcements and promises without delivering sufficient relief to Nigerians facing economic hardship.

He urged young people to mobilise in their communities and wards, promoting what he described as an alternative under the ADC presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi.

Ologbondiyan said the ticket would prioritise transparency and accountability in managing the petroleum sector, adding that economic policies should focus on reducing the burden on ordinary citizens.

He also called on voters to compare the candidates’ records, policies and plans rather than relying solely on campaign promises.

“Your future is too important to be sacrificed on the altar of political propaganda,” he said, urging young Nigerians to demand decent jobs, affordable living conditions and greater opportunities.

The statement reflects the ADC-PCC’s effort to appeal to young voters by focusing on economic hardship and the cost of living as political parties prepare for the next presidential election.
