A total of 1,027 Muslim students have registered for the 2026 Career Mentorship Programme (CMP) scholarship examination organised by the Standard Bearers Islamic Organization (SB). The examination, which is being held across selected centres in Nigeria, is aimed at identifying outstanding Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) students who will receive scholarship and career development support.
The students are being tested in Mathematics and English Language through a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
On Saturday, 693 candidates sat for the examination at five centres, while the remaining 334 candidates are scheduled to write on Saturday, October 10, at centres in Akure and Abuja.
The centres that hosted Saturday’s examination included Tenderfoot Islamic Path Secondary School, Igboya, Ile-Ife, where 79 candidates sat for the test; Al-Falaah Model College, Osogbo, with 68 candidates; Lamp Bearers Islamic School, Ilorin, with 387; Centre for Gender Studies, Bayero University, Kano, with 126; and Muslim Comprehensive College, Sabo Irojo, Ilesa, with 33 candidates.
In the second batch, 128 candidates are expected at Al-Mahaarah Schools in Akure, while 206 are scheduled to take the examination at the National Mosque ICT Centre in Abuja.
Director of the CMP, Gidado Habib, said the examination went smoothly and praised the candidates for their conduct and level of preparation.
He said the questions were prepared in line with West African Examinations Council (WAEC) standards and were designed to reflect the academic level expected of SS3 students.
Habib said the examination results and cut-off mark would be released soon, adding that candidates who perform exceptionally well would be considered for scholarship opportunities.
He said the programme was designed to encourage academic excellence while giving Muslim students an opportunity to compete, learn and prepare for their future careers.
One of the candidates, Lawal Ibrahim, said he found some of the questions challenging but considered the examination well organised.
According to him, the questions were within the expected standard for SS3 students, and he was hopeful that his performance would be good enough to qualify for the scholarship.
The Career Mentorship Programme is an initiative of the Standard Bearers Islamic Organization aimed at identifying and supporting promising Muslim students through scholarships, mentorship and career development opportunities.
