The BATKOHrrect initiative has congratulated Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, following their historic triumph at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The Flamingos defeated Japan 2-1 in the final played on Saturday, November 7, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, becoming the first African team to win the competition.

Goals from Awawu Bashiru and Oluebube Umejiaku secured the victory for Nigeria, marking the country’s first title in the tournament and a major achievement for women’s football on the continent.

In a congratulatory statement, BATKOHrrect described the victory as a proud moment for Nigeria, praising the players for their resilience, teamwork, discipline and determination throughout the competition.

The initiative also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support for sports development and his belief in young Nigerian athletes.

It said the President’s commitment to youth empowerment and creating opportunities for girls in sports had contributed to the environment in which the Flamingos could achieve the historic feat.

“We praise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support for sports. Thank you, Mr President, for believing in our girls,” the statement said.

BATKOHrrect also congratulated the team’s coaching staff, the Nigeria Football Federation and everyone who contributed to the Flamingos’ success.

The initiative noted that the victory had brought pride to Nigeria while demonstrating the potential of young female athletes when given the opportunity to compete and excel.

BATKOHrrect describes itself as a national initiative focused on celebrating good governance, youth development and the advancement of sports and education in Nigeria.
