BATKOHrrect, a grassroots socio-political movement supporting President Bola Tinubu, has announced plans to distribute food items and essential relief materials to 1,000 vulnerable families as part of efforts to support poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
The group made the announcement in a statement marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, observed annually on October 17. It also commended the Tinubu administration for its economic reforms and social intervention programmes.
BATKOHrrect’s National Coordinator, Victor Ganzallo, said the planned outreach was intended to support vulnerable households and demonstrate the role of citizens’ groups in addressing the challenges facing Nigerians.
The group said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s poverty alleviation efforts and reflects the need for collective action in tackling economic hardship.
Commending Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, BATKOHrrect highlighted government initiatives, including social investment programmes, conditional cash transfers, the Presidential Palliative Programme, wage awards and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
It also cited the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, investments in agriculture and food security, and support for small businesses, youth entrepreneurship and job creation as measures aimed at improving livelihoods.
According to the group, these interventions demonstrate the administration’s commitment to addressing economic challenges and improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.
BATKOHrrect, however, acknowledged that eradicating poverty would require sustained efforts, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and united.
Describing itself as a grassroots movement focused on political mobilisation, civic education and humanitarian service, the group said it also works to promote government policies, counter what it considers misinformation and support youth and women’s empowerment.
Its members, according to the statement, include students, artisans, professionals, market women and entrepreneurs across Nigeria’s 36 states.
The group called on Nigerians to contribute to poverty alleviation through community support and other practical interventions, stressing that the responsibility of improving living conditions should not rest solely on the government.
The statement was signed by Ganzallo, who reaffirmed the organisation’s support for President Tinubu and his administration’s policies.
