Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger unity among Christian groups in the country, stressing that love and togetherness remain central to the Christian faith.
She made the call on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the 50th anniversary celebration, awards and thanksgiving service of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Congratulating the association on reaching the milestone, Mrs Tinubu commended its leadership and members for their dedication to spreading the gospel and sustaining the Christian faith over the years. She urged them to continue working together despite differences among the various Christian blocs.

The First Lady said the anniversary theme, “Walking Together in Faith,” reflected the prayer of Jesus Christ for unity among believers, as recorded in John 17:21–22.
She prayed that the different Christian groups within CAN would remain united and continue contributing to the spiritual and social development of the country.
Mrs Tinubu, who received an Award of Excellence at the event, expressed gratitude to the association, describing the recognition as a motivation to do more in service to God and humanity.
“I want you to know that this award is a call to greater work in service to God and humanity,” she said.

In his remarks, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said the association had spent the past 50 years working to break down divisions within the Christian community.
He noted that CAN was repositioning itself to play a stronger role in nation-building and serve as a voice of hope, while working with the government on issues affecting Nigerians.

The celebration also featured prayers for Nigeria and the Christian community, as members reflected on the association’s journey and its role in promoting unity and national development.
