GTBank Customers Can Now Use Google Pay for International and Local Online Payments

GTBank customers can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet and use Google Pay to make online payments locally and internationally, the bank has announced.

The new service allows customers to pay for subscriptions, book flights and hotels, order food, purchase goods and services, pay bills and access digital services without having to enter their card details every time they make a transaction.

In a statement released on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Guaranty Trust Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO), said the introduction of Google Pay was aimed at making online payments easier, faster and more convenient for customers.

With the service, customers can add their GTBank debit cards to Google Wallet and select Google Pay when making payments on supported websites and platforms. They can then confirm their transactions without repeatedly typing in their card information.

The bank said the service also provides customers with access to a widely accepted digital payment option for transactions across multiple countries and regions where Google Pay is available.

Security is another feature highlighted by the bank. Google Pay incorporates safeguards designed to help protect users’ payment information during online transactions, offering an additional layer of protection while making digital payments.

Commenting on the launch, GTBank Managing Director, Miriam Olusanya, said the bank was responding to customers’ growing demand for simpler and more secure ways to make online payments, both within Nigeria and abroad.

“Our customers are increasingly looking for simpler and more secure ways to pay online, both locally and internationally,” Olusanya said.

She explained that allowing customers to add their GTBank debit cards to Google Wallet would give them access to a globally recognised digital payment solution and make online transactions more seamless.

Olusanya added that the launch reflected the bank’s commitment to removing unnecessary difficulties from everyday banking and developing services that fit customers’ increasingly digital lifestyles.

The introduction of Google Pay provides GTBank customers with another option for making online payments, particularly for international purchases and digital services where the payment method is supported.

GTCO, the bank’s parent company, operates across Africa and the United Kingdom, providing banking and other financial services. The group has continued to emphasise the use of technology to improve access to financial services and make transactions more convenient for customers.
