The Oyo State Government has announced the commencement of its 2026 bursary screening exercise for final-year indigenes studying in public higher institutions across the country.
The exercise, organised by the Oyo State Scholarship Board, will run from Wednesday, November 11, to Friday, November 27, 2026, with both physical and online screening options available to shortlisted applicants.
In a statement issued on Saturday, November 7, the Secretary of the Board, Niyi Akinyanju, explained that only applicants whose online submissions had been reviewed and found to meet the registration requirements would be invited for screening.
He cautioned students that completing the online registration process did not automatically qualify them for the exercise, stressing that only those who had met the stipulated conditions would be considered.
Under the arrangement, students studying in institutions within the South-West geopolitical zone must attend physical screening, regardless of their current place of residence.
However, applicants studying outside the South-West can choose between physical and online screening, depending on their location and convenience.
Those opting for online screening have been advised to keep their registered telephone numbers active and accessible throughout their scheduled dates, as the Board may contact them for verification and further clarification.
For physical screening, applicants are expected to report at the Oyo State Scholarship Board Room, Room 83, Ministry of Education, Secretariat, Ibadan, by 10:00 a.m. on their scheduled dates.
The Board also clarified that screening would take place on weekdays only, from Monday to Friday, with no activities scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays.
According to the timetable, students in colleges will be screened from November 11 to 12, while Higher National Diploma (HND) applicants are scheduled for November 13 to 17.
University students will have their screening from November 18 to 26, while applicants in clinical and allied courses are scheduled for November 25 and 26. Students in maritime and aviation programmes will be screened on November 27.
All shortlisted applicants, whether attending physically or online, are required to provide their JAMB admission letters, local government identification letters, final-year course registration forms, recent passport photographs, school identification cards and evidence of annual FOSSU payment.
The Board urged students to ensure that their documents were complete and authentic to avoid delays during the verification process. It also advised applicants to follow their respective screening schedules and guidelines.
The introduction of online screening, according to the Board, is part of efforts to make the process more accessible to students outside the South-West while reducing administrative challenges.
The state government, under Governor Seyi Makinde, said the bursary programme forms part of its commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of Oyo indigenes and promoting access to higher education.
